Kidnappers Arrested in Nasarawa State Police Operation

A joint operation by police operatives from Assakio Division and local vigilantes has resulted in the arrest of six suspected kidnappers and the rescue of three victims in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. The operation, which took place in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages of Lafia East Development Area, was prompted by a complaint lodged on January 7, 2026, reporting the abduction of two females and a male by suspected kidnappers.

According to a press release issued by the Nasarawa State Police Command, the victims were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families after receiving medical attention. The police operation was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, following the receipt of the complaint. The suspects, who have confessed to committing the crime, have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation and prosecution.

The incident began when suspected kidnappers invaded Angara village, abducting two females and leaving behind an infant. Another male was later kidnapped in the same village. The swift response by the police and local vigilantes led to the successful arrest of the suspects and the rescue of the victims. The police commissioner has assured the public of the Command’s commitment to combating criminality across the state.

The operation highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities in preventing and responding to crime. The Nasarawa State Police Command’s efforts to tackle kidnapping and other forms of criminality are part of a broader strategy to ensure public safety and security in the state. With the suspects now in custody, the focus will shift to the investigation and prosecution of those involved, as the authorities seek to bring perpetrators to justice and prevent future incidents.
