Oyo State Police Launch Investigation into Alleged Threats by Suspected Bandits

The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into alleged threat notes discovered in Ikoyi-Ile, Orire Local Government Area, warning of an impending attack. According to reports, two handwritten notes were found on Friday at the front and rear of a building in the area, stating that an attack is scheduled for Tuesday.

The discovery of the threat notes has raised concerns among residents, particularly given the history of attacks in the area. Ikoyi-Ile is one of the communities in Orire that has previously been targeted by suspected bandits, resulting in the killing of five forest guards of the Old Oyo National Park.

Police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the incident and stated that the individual who discovered the note is undergoing debriefing. The police command has launched a full-scale investigation to determine the origin and intent of the note. Olayinka expressed appreciation for the cooperation of residents and urged them to remain vigilant while the investigation is ongoing.

The police are taking the threat seriously and are working to identify those responsible for the notes. The investigation is part of the command’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents in the area. The Oyo State Police Command has assured the public that it will do everything possible to prevent any potential attacks and protect the community.

The discovery of the threat notes has highlighted the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement and the community. The police are encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity or information that may be relevant to the investigation. As the investigation continues, the police are working to reassure residents that they are taking all necessary measures to ensure their safety and security.
