Rivers Governor Urges Calm Amid Peace Efforts

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called on residents to remain calm and trust in God as his administration works to sustain peace and progress in the state. The governor made the appeal during a special Inter-Denominational Church Service held to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt.

Fubara emphasized that his calmness and composure stem from his faith in God, which gives him confidence and strength. He noted that there is no need for panic or agitation when one is anchored in divine authority. The governor assured the people that his administration’s central objective remains the entrenchment of lasting peace across Rivers State, which will be achieved through faith and responsible leadership.

Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu drew attention to the message of the sermon, reminding the congregation that every individual is ultimately judged by the impact they make while alive. She paid tribute to fallen heroes and heroines, as well as veterans present at the service, describing their sacrifices as invaluable to the nation. Odu also urged the congregation to continue upholding the government in prayers, stating that prayers have sustained them so far.

The sermon, delivered by Archbishop Blessing Enyindah, was themed “Only Remembered by What We Have Done” and emphasized the importance of using one’s life to build a legacy of peace, love, and service to God and humanity. The archbishop commended Fubara for his consistent support of the Armed Forces and urged leaders and citizens alike to serve God with their hearts and resources to help others.

The service featured intercessory prayers for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, veterans, and families of fallen heroes, as well as prayers for divine wisdom and guidance for President Bola Tinubu, Fubara, and the nation at large. The event served as a reminder of the importance of peace, love, and service to God and humanity, and the need for leaders and citizens to work together to build a better future for all.

The Rivers State government’s commitment to sustaining peace and progress in the state is a significant step towards achieving stability and development in the region. As the state continues to navigate the challenges of governance, the emphasis on faith, responsible leadership, and community engagement is likely to play a crucial role in shaping its future. With the support of its citizens and the guidance of its leaders, Rivers State is poised to make significant strides in the years to come.
