Nigeria’s Ruling Party Deemed Failed by Citizens

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that the Nigerian populace has reached a consensus regarding the perceived failure of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government. This assertion was made by the party’s National Spokesman, Yemi Abdullahi, during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ program on Friday.

Abdullahi emphasized that the opposition parties bear the responsibility of convincing the Nigerian people that they possess the capability to perform better and offer alternative solutions. He noted that the government’s inability to effectively address various issues has led to widespread disappointment among Nigerians.

As an example, Abdullahi pointed out the delay in the appointment of ambassadors, which has been pending for an extended period. He mentioned that despite the submission of names to the National Assembly for clearance last year, none of the appointees have been posted to their respective positions. Abdullahi further highlighted that even if the ambassadors were to be posted immediately, the process of obtaining their letters of credence might not be completed until the end of 2026.

This criticism comes as Nigeria continues to grapple with various challenges, including economic and security concerns. The ADC’s statement reflects the growing discontent among the Nigerian population with the current state of governance. As the country approaches future elections, opposition parties like the ADC are seizing the opportunity to present themselves as viable alternatives to the ruling APC.

The ADC’s remarks underscore the need for improved governance and accountability in Nigeria. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how the ruling party will respond to these criticisms and whether the opposition will be able to capitalize on the perceived failures of the current administration. The Nigerian people will be watching closely as the country navigates this critical period in its political history.
