Tinubu lays foundation for long term growth and prosperity

The Nigerian government is taking steps to ensure long-term economic growth and shared prosperity, according to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris. He made this statement during a courtesy visit from the Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu, GAT, 2027 group.

The administration, led by President Bola Tinubu, has implemented policies to stabilize the economy and restore confidence. Early signs of recovery are becoming apparent across key sectors, with the minister attributing these developments to the foundations laid for long-term growth and shared prosperity. Idris emphasized the importance of unity, responsible communication, and collective support for national policies to protect Nigeria’s improving economic outlook.

He warned that distorted narratives about the country can harm investors’ confidence and slow development, urging citizens to speak positively and truthfully about Nigeria. By projecting stability and unity, the country can attract investments and create opportunities for its people. The minister commended the GAT 2027 group for its civic engagement and acceptance of responsibility in supporting accurate public information.

The group proposed a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation Agency in areas such as public enlightenment, youth engagement, and strategic communication. Idris welcomed the proposal, acknowledging the crucial role advocacy groups play in helping government policies reach the grassroots. Effective communication is essential to national stability and development, he added.

The minister reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to making Nigeria work for all citizens, regardless of religion or background. He assured the delegation that the ministry would continue to work with credible groups to ensure accurate information is widely shared. GAT 2027 National Coordinator, Prof. Ochugudu Ipuele, stated that the group’s visit aimed to brief the minister on its activities and show solidarity with his mandate of informing Nigerians and clarifying government policies.

The group is committed to supporting President Tinubu’s policies by countering distorted narratives, especially during election periods, and engaging young people. With a focus on responding to false or misleading information in real-time, the group seeks to promote a more informed and engaged citizenry. As Nigeria continues to navigate its economic and social challenges, the collaboration between the government and advocacy groups like GAT 2027 is crucial for promoting accurate information and supporting the country’s development.
