Trump invites world leaders to Gaza peace board for $1 billion

The White House has invited numerous world leaders to participate in the post-war management of the Palestinian enclave, as part of the US-backed peace initiative for Gaza. According to reports, President Donald Trump aims to establish a “Board of Peace” to oversee the reconstruction of the region. The board’s charter outlines a membership term of three years, subject to renewal, with the option for countries to extend their membership by contributing over $1 billion in cash funds within the first year.

The charter, obtained by multiple media outlets, describes the board as an international organization seeking to promote stability, restore governance, and secure peace in conflict-affected areas. Notably, the document does not specifically mention Gaza, sparking speculation about the board’s potential scope and authority.

President Trump has named himself as the chairman of the board’s Executive Board, which includes former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Other leaders invited to join the board include Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The launch of the “Board of Peace” marks the second phase of the US-backed peace initiative for Gaza, which initially focused on halting hostilities, facilitating captive exchanges, and easing humanitarian access. As the second stage commences, President Trump has renewed calls for the demilitarization of Hamas and the transfer of power to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).

The establishment of the “Board of Peace” is seen as a significant development in the region’s peace process. With the involvement of various world leaders and the potential for substantial financial contributions, the board’s impact on the region’s stability and governance will be closely monitored. As the situation unfolds, further details on the board’s structure, membership, and objectives are expected to emerge, shedding more light on the US administration’s vision for the region’s future.
