Bandits kidnap over 100 worshippers in Kaduna church attack

A mass abduction has occurred in Kaduna State, Nigeria, where over 100 worshippers were taken by suspected bandits during a church service. The incident, confirmed by the Kaduna State Police Command, happened on Sunday morning when armed men stormed the church premises, shooting sporadically to create panic before rounding up congregants.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived on motorcycles and operated for several minutes without resistance, due to the absence of security personnel in the area. A local community leader, who wished to remain anonymous, estimated that the number of abducted worshippers could exceed 100, as families are still compiling a list of missing persons.

The police have launched a joint operation with the military and other security agencies to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators. The Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson stated that the command is working to ensure the safe rescue of all abducted persons and bring the criminals to justice.

This incident is the latest in a series of attacks by bandits in Kaduna State, which have targeted rural communities, highways, and religious centers. Despite ongoing security operations by the government, the state continues to experience insecurity. Residents are calling on the Federal and Kaduna State governments to deploy more security personnel to vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks.

The Kaduna State government has been struggling to contain the activities of bandits, who have been terrorizing communities, kidnapping people, and demanding ransom. The state’s rural areas have been particularly affected, with many residents living in fear of attacks. The government has assured citizens that it is working to address the security challenges, but the latest incident has raised concerns about the effectiveness of its efforts.

The police and other security agencies are working to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted worshippers. The incident has highlighted the need for increased security measures in vulnerable communities and the importance of collaboration between security agencies to combat insecurity in the state.
