ADC Chieftain Urges Support for Obi, Atiku

A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress, Ladan Salihu, has urged Nigerians to support former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar in their efforts to bolster the opposition. In a recent interview on Arise Television, Salihu emphasized the importance of a strong opposition in the country’s political landscape.

According to Salihu, the combination of Atiku Abubakar’s experience, leadership qualities, and integrity, along with Peter Obi’s capacity, zeal, and sincerity, makes for a formidable team. He believes that having these two leaders under the same umbrella, along with other like-minded politicians, would greatly benefit the country. Salihu stressed that Nigerians should focus on encouraging and supporting these leaders as they work together to strengthen the opposition.

The call for a unified opposition comes after a coalition of parties, including the African Democratic Congress, agreed to work together. Salihu noted that before the coalition, these leaders had engaged in discussions and agreed to collaborate, demonstrating their commitment to a common goal. By working together, they aim to provide a robust alternative to the current political establishment.

The development is significant, given the country’s political history and the need for a vibrant opposition to hold the government accountable. A strong opposition can play a crucial role in promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability. As Nigeria continues to navigate its complex political landscape, the collaboration between Obi, Abubakar, and other opposition leaders is likely to be closely watched by citizens and observers alike.

The success of this coalition will depend on the ability of these leaders to put aside their differences and work towards a common objective. If successful, it could mark a significant shift in the country’s political dynamics, providing a more robust and effective opposition that can engage with the government and promote the interests of citizens. As the situation unfolds, it is likely that Nigerians will be keenly observing the developments and waiting to see the impact of this coalition on the country’s political landscape.
