Nigerian Senator Ned Nwoko has responded to the recent arrest of Ann Izuegbu Anthonet, a close friend of his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels. The arrest has sparked a public debate, with Daniels questioning its legality and Nwoko’s team alleging criminal misconduct.
According to Daniels, her friend was arrested on charges related to drug and theft allegations. However, Nwoko’s communication team has dismissed these claims as “false, reckless, and deliberately intended to distort the facts.” In a statement on Instagram, they alleged that Ann was arrested for publicly accusing Nwoko of physically assaulting his wife, Laila Nwoko, and causing a miscarriage, claims they described as entirely false.
The statement also alleged that Ann was involved in procuring an illegal abortion for Daniels during her marriage to Nwoko, which resulted in the loss of Nwoko’s unborn child. Additionally, Nwoko’s team claimed that Ann was involved in the handling and distribution of illegal substances and that a formal witness statement was submitted to the Maitama Police Station in October 2025.
The arrest is reportedly connected to a social media post deemed threatening and defamatory toward the Nwoko family, which is now under investigation by law enforcement agencies. Nwoko’s team emphasized that the matter is a law-enforcement issue grounded in evidence, witness testimonies, and due process.
The private conflict between Nwoko and Daniels became public in October after Daniels shared a video alleging domestic violence. Nwoko countered, claiming Daniels struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, while Daniels admitted to drug use but accused Nwoko of orchestrating it as a means of control.
Recently, Daniels confirmed that warrants had been issued for her and family members over allegations of stealing $40,000 from Nwoko’s residence. The Nwoko family has called on the public to rely on verified facts and allow law enforcement to handle the matter. As the investigation continues, the public awaits further developments in this high-profile case.
