Tinubu Plans to Replace VP Shettima Ahead of 2027 Election

Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is considering replacing Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election. In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele reiterated his previous warning to President Tinubu regarding the use of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, citing that the move could lead to the removal of the vice president from office.

According to Primate Ayodele, if Vice President Shettima is removed in an acrimonious manner, it could have negative consequences for the party, as Shettima may work against the party’s interests. He also cautioned against selecting a governor who recently defected to the party as a replacement, as this could lead to aggression in the north.

Primate Ayodele further advised President Tinubu to be cautious, stating that “two things are fighting him, which are nemesis and betrayal.” He added that some of the president’s aides are blocking access to him for individuals who could provide genuine assistance. The religious leader also touched on the issue of insecurity, noting that despite any security measures put in place, external factors, such as the stance of the US government, could impact the effectiveness of these efforts.

The comments from Primate Ayodele come as President Tinubu’s administration continues to navigate various challenges. The potential replacement of Vice President Shettima and the selection of a new vice president could have significant implications for the party’s stability and performance in the 2027 election. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how President Tinubu will address these issues and the potential consequences of his decisions. The religious leader’s warnings highlight the complexities of Nigerian politics and the need for careful consideration in key decision-making processes.
