Omije Ojumi daughter pays tribute to late mother

A heartfelt tribute was paid to the late gospel singer, Omije Ojumi, by her eldest daughter, Jomiloju, at a service of songs held in her honour on Wednesday. Jomiloju remembered her mother as a pillar of strength and virtue who remained committed to her family despite the challenges she faced in her marriage.

According to Jomiloju, her mother’s unwavering presence in their lives was a constant source of comfort, even when their father was absent. Ojumi’s primary focus was on raising disciplined and responsible children, driven by a desire to prevent them from repeating what she perceived as her own mistakes in marriage. “She was always there for us, even when our father wasn’t,” Jomiloju said. “Her goal was to ensure we turned out responsible and did better than she did in her marital journey.”

Jomiloju highlighted her mother’s emphasis on education, noting that she made significant sacrifices to enrol her children in the best schools she could afford, thereby securing their future. In an emotional moment, Jomiloju publicly vowed to honour her mother’s wishes by caring for her younger brother and guiding him on the right path. “I promised my mum that I will take care of my younger brother,” she said. “He will be the prayer warrior and responsible son she wanted him to be.”

The service of songs was a celebration of Ojumi’s life and legacy, with Jomiloju’s tribute serving as a testament to her mother’s enduring impact on their family. As a renowned gospel singer, Ojumi’s music and message inspired countless individuals, and her commitment to her family has left a lasting impression on those who knew her. With her passing, her family and fans mourn the loss of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many through her music and unwavering dedication to her loved ones.
