The Nigerian Armed Forces has intensified operations to apprehend the terrorists responsible for a deadly attack on Woro village and surrounding communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, Kwara State. According to a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by Maj.-Gen. Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information, security forces are conducting intelligence-led patrols and surveillance to identify and dismantle terrorist networks in the area. The attack follows a prior incident in the same village where suspected terrorists attempted to indoctrinate residents. That effort was firmly rejected by the Woro community. General Uba emphasized that pursuing the suspects remains a top priority. “Efforts to locate the assailants will be sustained until they are apprehended and held accountable in accordance with the law,” he stated. He highlighted the use of enhanced intelligence gathering and proactive patrols to preempt further violence and disrupt terrorist activities in neighbouring communities.
A key component of the strategy relies on civilian cooperation. The Defence Headquarters has urged residents in Kwara and surrounding states to provide timely and credible information to security operatives.
