Africa Eco Race 2026 Concludes at Lac Rose Dakar with Winners

The 2026 Africa Eco Race reached its conclusion on the shores of Lac Rose near Dakar, Senegal, bringing the 17th edition of the annual rally-raid to a close after a challenging final stage. Competitors traversed a 475-kilometer route from Mauritania into Senegal, with 103 kilometers of competitive special stage, marking a definitive transition to the event’s traditional finish line.

This concluding stage presented a dramatic geographical shift. Riders and drivers moved from the vast, barren dune fields of Mauritania into the greener savannah landscapes of Senegal. The change in environment was accompanied by altered racing conditions, light, and atmosphere, culminating in a special stage that was both technically demanding and emotionally charged. In Senegal, large numbers of spectators lined the route near villages, enthusiastically applauding the passing competitors. This vibrant reception highlighted the rally’s enduring connection with local communities, underscoring its identity as an adventure that extends beyond pure competition.

The stage’s results effectively cemented the overall standings for the 2026 marathon. The final competitive classification confirmed the following category winners: Jean-Loup Lepan in the motorbike class, Magdalena Zając in the car category, Enrico Gaspari in the SSV (Side by Side Vehicle) class, and Gerrit Zuurmond among the truck competitors.

The finish at the pink-hued Lac Rose, a iconic natural landmark, provided a symbolic endpoint to a rally renowned for its focus on navigation, endurance, and self-sufficiency. The 17th edition maintained the Africa Eco Race’s reputation for navigating remote and varied terrains while fostering direct interactions between the international caravan and local populations along the route. With the rankings now finalized, the organizing committee will proceed with the official closing ceremonies, concluding another cycle of the event that positions itself as an alternative adventure rally-raid in the African continent.
