APC’s 10M e-Registration Signals Clear Election Victory Path

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the registration of over 10 million members nationwide following a recently concluded electronic exercise, positioning the party for a strong showing in Nigeria’s next general elections. The Lagos State chapter, which spearheaded the digital drive, described the figure as evidence of expanding grassroots support and organizational readiness across the country.

This membership surge, confirmed by the party’s national leadership, comes amid preparations for future electoral contests, including the 2027 general elections. The APC, currently Nigeria’s ruling party under President Bola Tinubu, has emphasized that such a large, verified membership base enhances its capacity for voter mobilization and candidate selection at all levels. The process, which required participants to present a valid Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and National Identification Number (NIN), aimed to eliminate fraudulent entries and create a transparent database reflective of the party’s actual strength.

Seye Oladejo, the APC’s Lagos State spokesman, highlighted the exercise as a milestone in internal democracy. “Registering over 10 million members nationwide is unprecedented and clearly signals a victory path for the APC,” he stated. Oladejo noted that the seamless adoption of the e-registration platform deepened participation across wards, local governments, and constituencies, while ensuring equal opportunity for both old and new members to engage in party activities. The stringent verification protocols, he added, protected the integrity of the register by preventing ghost members and fostering trust among adherents.

The shift to digital registration marks a strategic effort to modernize party operations in Nigeria’s competitive political landscape. Traditionally, membership drives have been plagued by irregularities, but the APC’s reliance on PVC and NIN—documents already tied to civic identity—adds a layer of credibility. Analysts suggest that accurate membership data can streamline primaries, reduce conflicts, and improve resource allocation during campaigns. For the APC, this exercise reinforces its narrative of progressive governance under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes technological innovation and inclusive policies.

Oladejo commended party officials, volunteers, and members for their cooperation, citing the process as a unifying force. “This inclusive system has reinforced fairness, participation and trust within the party,” he said. The large turnout, according to the party, demonstrates growing public confidence in the APC’s ideals and its ability to coordinate nationwide.

As Nigeria’s political parties gear up for the next electoral cycle, the APC’s membership drive could influence opposition strategies. With over 10 million registered members, the party claims a significant head start in grassroots mobilization, particularly in key swing states. However, electoral success ultimately depends on voter turnout, economic conditions, and coalition-building—factors that extend beyond raw membership numbers.

The APC’s announcement also draws attention to the broader trend of digital adoption in Nigerian politics. While other parties have explored similar platforms, the scale of this exercise sets a benchmark for transparency. International observers note that robust party databases can enhance electoral integrity if matched with independent oversight.

Looking ahead, the APC plans to leverage this database for targeted outreach, policy feedback, and candidate vetting. The party’s leadership asserts that the exercise aligns with national goals of reducing bureaucratic inefficiencies and promoting citizen engagement. As the 2027 elections approach, the APC’s assertion of electoral momentum will be tested at the polls, but for now, the membership figures serve as a key indicator of its organizational vitality.
