ADC Launches Membership Revalidation with State Committees

ADC Launches Nationwide Membership Verification Drive, Inaugurates State Committees

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has commenced a comprehensive nationwide membership revalidation, mobilisation, and registration exercise, marking a significant organisational effort ahead of future electoral cycles. The party officially flagged off the exercise on Thursday in Abuja, an event attended by members of its National Executive Committee (NEC), senior party leaders, key stakeholders, and representatives from across Nigeria.

The leadership described the initiative as a strategic measure to fortify the party’s internal structures, enhance engagement at the grassroots level, and reposition the ADC for expanded national relevance. A central component of the drive is the issuance of a new, secure membership card. The party stated that this newly issued card supersedes all previously distributed ADC membership cards, rendering them invalid. Consequently, all existing members are required to complete the revalidation and registration process to maintain their active status and full privileges within the party.

To oversee the implementation, the ADC concurrently inaugurated State Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation, and Registration (MRMR) Committees. These state-level bodies are tasked with ensuring the exercise is conducted smoothly, transparently, and successfully nationwide. The party emphasised that the creation of these committees underscores its commitment to accountability and effective coordination at the sub-national level.

The ADC urged all members to actively participate in the verification process to help build a credible, updated, and inclusive national membership database. The leadership reaffirmed the party’s resolve to deepen democratic values, significantly grow its membership base, and cultivate a robust, people-centred political movement across Nigeria.

This organised membership drive reflects a common pre-election strategy among Nigerian political parties to consolidate support, purge outdated records, and demonstrate organisational readiness. The ADC’s effectiveness in executing this nationwide exercise will be a key indicator of its preparedness for future political contests. The state committees are now expected to begin the verification and registration process in their respective jurisdictions.
