The unsubstantiated allegation circulated on Facebook in Nigeria, with posts styled as breaking news asserting that the president’s name was found in the so-called “Epstein files.” These files comprise a vast archive of court documents, depositions, and evidence unsealed during ongoing legal proceedings stemming from Epstein’s 2019 arrest and subsequent death.
A direct search of the official Epstein Document Library, maintained by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), using the terms “Bola Tinubu” and “Nigeria” returned no results. The DOJ’s public release, which includes millions of pages of records, lists over 300 named individuals. Media monitoring and analysis of the released materials have also found no reference to the Nigerian president.
