NNPC Limited’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Energy Institute (FEI), United Kingdom, one of the highest professional honours in the global energy sector. The award was formally conferred during International Energy Week in London, a leading global forum for energy policy and industry leadership.
The Fellowship is reserved for senior energy executives who have demonstrated sustained, high-impact contributions to advancing the sector. Engr. Ojulari was recognised for his role in shaping NNPC Limited’s strategic direction, strengthening governance, embedding a performance-driven culture, and repositioning the company for profitability and long-term value creation. Andy Brown, President of the Energy Institute, presented the honour, commending Ojulari’s transformative leadership of Nigeria’s national energy company.
The recognition serves as a significant institutional endorsement of NNPC Limited’s ongoing transformation into a commercially focused, transparent, and globally competitive entity. It signals growing international confidence in the leadership driving the company’s reform agenda and aligns with global best practices in governance, sustainability, and energy transition management. The honour further strengthens NNPC’s positioning within the global energy ecosystem, placing its leadership at the centre of critical international discussions on energy security, investment, and sustainable development.
This milestone coincides with Nigeria’s broader energy sector reforms under the Petroleum Industry Act, which emphasise boosting oil production, expanding gas utilisation, and enhancing the commercial viability of NNPC Limited. Under Engr. Ojulari’s tenure, the company has pursued investor-focused reforms, improved operational execution, and forged strategic global partnerships to enhance efficiency and transparency.
The Energy Institute Fellowship underscores NNPC Limited’s emerging reputation as a credible, reform-oriented, and investment-ready enterprise. It reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering sustainable value, strengthening Nigeria’s energy security, and acting as a trusted global energy partner, particularly as Africa navigates its energy transition and security challenges.
