ADC Denies Fake Document on National Support Groups

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally declared a circulating document that claims to represent its national support groups as fraudulent and unauthorized.

In a statement released via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, the political party warned the public to disregard the material titled “ADC National Support Groups (National Headquarters, Abuja).” The party asserted that the document did not originate from its leadership or any legitimate arm of its secretariat.

“The African Democratic Congress, ADC, wishes to inform the public that the document currently circulating under the name ‘ADC National Support Groups (National Headquarters, Abuja)’ is fake and unauthorized,” the statement read. It further clarified that no official structure by that name exists within its national headquarters.

The ADC emphasized that its official communications are exclusively issued through verified channels, urging members and the general public to verify all information before dissemination. The party called for heightened vigilance against false publications that may seek to mislead supporters or damage its reputation.

This incident highlights the persistent challenge of misinformation targeting political entities, where fabricated documents or statements are sometimes circulated to create confusion or false impressions of internal organization. For the ADC, a registered political party in Nigeria, maintaining control over its official narrative through verified platforms is critical to prevent the spread of such unsubstantiated claims.

The party’s directive to rely solely on its official channels serves as a standard precautionary measure for any political organization facing potential impersonation or the circulation of forged materials. Supporters are advised to cross-check any unexpected claims directly with the party’s confirmed communication outlets to avoid contributing to the spread of inaccuracies.
