Chika Ikenga Named to Michael Okpara Business School Board

Business leader Chika Ikenga, Chairman of Eunisell Interlinked Plc and founder of the Nature’s Gentle Touch haircare brand, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Business School at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUAU). The appointment, announced on Monday, recognises Ikenga’s extensive leadership in industry and his contributions to national economic development.

The university’s Registrar and Secretary to Council, Nkeiruka Mbanasor, confirmed the decision in an official letter. She stated that Ikenga’s record in public service and his work in strengthening institutions aligned with the Business School’s vision to become a hub for advanced learning, research, entrepreneurship, and policy dialogue supporting Nigeria’s agricultural and economic sectors.

In his new role, Ikenga will join the board to provide strategic guidance aimed at enhancing the school’s growth and global positioning. His responsibilities will include advising on the development and review of high-quality academic programmes, as well as partnerships, industry collaborations, and governance practices. The board’s mandate includes empowering future leaders through innovation and academic excellence.

Speaking on the appointment, Ikenga stressed the urgency of strengthening advanced learning and leadership development in Nigerian universities. “There is an urgent need to strengthen advanced learning and leadership development in our academic institutions so they can better equip future generations with the skills needed to drive economic growth and innovation,” he said.

The university noted that Ikenga’s cross-sector experience, from consumer goods to industrial chemicals and oil and gas solutions through the Eunisell Group, would bring significant value to the Business School’s strategic direction and its mission to impact Nigeria and the wider African continent.

This appointment underscores the Business School’s commitment to integrating practical industry insight with academic rigor. By leveraging Ikenga’s expertise in enterprise development and sustainable growth, the institution aims to refine its curriculum and foster stronger ties between academia and the sectors driving Nigeria’s economy. The move is expected to bolster the school’s capacity to produce graduates equipped for contemporary economic challenges.
