PDP Elders and Like-minds Forum in Taraba Reaffirm Support for State Leadership, Urge Mass Membership Registration
The Elders Forum and the Like-minds Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State have jointly reaffirmed their full support for the party’s existing state leadership structure. In a communiqué following a weekend meeting in Jalingo, the groups also issued a strong call to action for members to participate in the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
The joint meeting, attended by senior party members and key stakeholders, focused on internal party cohesion and organizational strengthening. The communiqué, signed by John Mamman (Chairman, PDP Elders Forum) and Hilkiah Bubajoda Mafindi (Chairman, Like-minds Forum), explicitly stated that the forum does not recognize any faction or group operating outside the legally constituted leadership from the ward level up to the State Working Committee. Members were urged to respect this established hierarchy to promote unity.
A central theme of the forum’s resolution was the critical importance of the current E-registration drive. The groups described the electronic membership registration as essential for bolstering the party’s grassroots base and enhancing its organizational capacity ahead of future electoral cycles. They appealed to stakeholders at the ward and local government levels to actively facilitate and support the registration process in their areas to ensure maximum participation.
The statement acknowledged ongoing national discussions within the PDP, particularly those before the Board of Trustees. However, it appealed to all members in Taraba to remain calm and law-abiding while awaiting a national resolution.
This unified stance from two influential party umbrella groups signals a concerted effort to consolidate the PDP’s structure in Taraba State. By emphasizing discipline, collective commitment, and a legitimate membership drive, the forums aim to present a cohesive front. The successful completion of the electronic registration is positioned as a foundational step for the party’s future mobilization and strength in the state, reinforcing its preparedness for political engagements.
