A coalition of constituents under the Ifo Lokan 2027 MHR Movement has formally rejected the bid for a fourth term by incumbent House of Representatives member Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka, representing the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun State. The group asserts that the 2027 seat must be zoned to Ifo Local Government, framing the demand as essential for fairness, equity, and justice within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The movement’s spokesman, Femi Akala, delivered a petition to the Ogun State APC secretariat in Abeokuta on Tuesday, submitting it to the party’s Administrative Secretary, Segun Bankole, on behalf of the State Chairman, Yemi Sanusi. The petition argues that zoning the nomination to Ifo aligns with the party’s constitutional principles and corrects a historical disparity between the two local governments that comprise the constituency.
Historically, the seat has rotated between the areas. Since 1999, Ewekoro Local Government held the seat for 16 years through Hon. Bamidele Obadina (2007–2011) and Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka (2015–2023, with a current term extending to 2027). Ifo Local Government represented the constituency for 12 years via Hon. Abayomi Collins (1999–2007) and Hon. Adekunle Adeyemi (2011–2015). The movement highlights Ifo’s larger voter population, greater number of polling units, and consistent electoral support for the APC as justifying the next rotation.
The group emphasizes that its stance is not confrontational but a principled appeal for inclusivity, citing Article 20 of the APC Constitution, which promotes fair distribution of opportunities. Akala stated that zoning the ticket to Ifo would strengthen party unity and long-term cohesion within the constituency.
The petition concludes with assurances of the movement’s loyalty and constructive engagement, expressing hope that party leadership will uphold its founding principles as preparations for the 2027 elections begin. The submission places the Ogun State APC leadership in a position to mediate the zoning arrangement, a decision that will significantly influence the party’s unity and candidate selection for the federal constituency.
