APC to Induct 33rd Governor Ahead of National Convention, Eyes 100 Million with Renewed Hope Message
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to welcome its 33rd state governor into the party on Wednesday, a move the ruling party frames as part of a broader strategy to consolidate its national footprint ahead of its 2026 National Convention. The induction is accompanied by a targeted communications drive aimed at promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to at least 100 million Nigerians and a global audience.
The initiative is being spearheaded by the party’s National Steering Committee on Digital and Media Subcommittees, which held its inaugural meeting in Abuja on Tuesday. In a statement, the committee stressed the importance of coordinated and effective communication throughout the convention period.
Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago, who chairs the committee, highlighted the significance of the governor inductions, noting, “Today we received the 32nd governor for the APC, and tomorrow we will receive the 33rd.” He urged committee members to demonstrate full dedication in executing their mandate.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, the committee’s co-chair, framed the convention as a demonstration of institutional strength. “We are not just doing a convention. We are showcasing to the world that there is a party in Africa that believes in real democracy for the people,” he stated, tasking members with clearly articulating the tenets of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ortega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital/New Media, provided the strategic outreach targets. He said the committee will leverage digital tools to ensure information reaches a minimum of 100 million Nigerians and an estimated 400 million people globally. “We will do that with a combination of digital tools,” Ogra confirmed.
The party’s National Convention is officially scheduled for March 26 and 27, 2026, in Abuja. The current efforts represent a significant pre-convention organizational push, focusing on both political integration and a large-scale narrative campaign to reinforce the APC’s governing message on the domestic and international stage. The induction of additional governors underscores the party’s continued expansion as it prepares for the pivotal 2026 gathering.
