APC 2026 Convention: Unity in Progress, Renewed Hope Agenda

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that its Eighth National Convention, scheduled for March 27–28 in Abuja, will be conducted with strict adherence to transparency and high organisational standards. The party’s Media and Publicity Committee confirmed that 8,453 delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are expected to participate in the event at Eagle Square.

Mohammed Idris, Co-chairman of the committee and Minister of Information and National Orientation, stated that all preparatory committees have finalised their assignments. He assured that operational systems are in place to ensure smooth coordination, efficiency, and order, with every detail addressed to avoid disruptions. “All arrangements have been concluded for a smooth, transparent and credible convention,” Idris said, describing the event as a demonstration of the APC’s commitment to democratic practice and organisational discipline.

The convention, themed “Unity in Progress, Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” will focus on policy engagement, leadership elections, and a formal transition to a new executive body. Idris emphasised that the theme reflects the party’s founding vision of uniting diverse progressive forces for national development and aligns internal processes with the country’s broader governance goals. He noted that the convention provides an opportunity to reaffirm the party’s unity and collective responsibility, which he described as essential to its growth and relevance.

Idris highlighted the APC’s track record of managing change through structured transitions and its strengthened internal governance, characterised by clear rules and broad stakeholder participation. He credited the party’s resilience and stability through multiple electoral cycles to its disciplined adherence to democratic norms.

The minister also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, noting his pivotal role in the party’s founding and growth, and his continued influence through the Renewed Hope Agenda. “The convention is an opportunity to deepen this agenda within our leadership and institutional structure,” Idris added.

The party reiterated that the event is not routine but a significant moment for reflection, consolidation, and direction-setting. According to the committee, the convention underscores the APC’s readiness to lead constructively at home and abroad, maintaining a broad-based platform that accommodates diverse perspectives while preserving unity of purpose.

The Media and Publicity Committee’s briefing aimed to share the purpose, readiness, and values behind the convention, reinforcing the party’s commitment to a transparent and orderly process as it enters a new phase of leadership and national engagement.
