Snapchat Launches Creator Subscriptions for Direct Revenue

Snapchat will begin alpha testing a subscription service for creators on February 23, initially rolling out to a select group of U.S.-based influencers, including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson. The feature, called Snap Creator Subscriptions, allows fans to pay a recurring monthly fee for exclusive access to a creator’s content and special perks within the app.

Under the model, creators set their own subscription prices, with Snap suggesting tiered options. Subscribers gain benefits such as exclusive posts, priority replies to public Stories, and ad-free viewing of that creator’s content. This expands Snap’s existing monetization suite, which includes the Unified Monetization Program and Snap Star Collab Studio, shifting from purely ad-revenue sharing to a direct-to-fan model. The company positions subscriptions as a way for creators to secure more predictable, recurring income while strengthening audience relationships.

The alpha launch will later expand to Snap Star creators in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France in the coming weeks. This move intensifies competition with Meta, which offers similar subscription tools across Instagram and Facebook, as platforms vie to attract and retain top talent with diversified revenue streams.

Snap’s push into creator subscriptions coincides with reported platform growth. In Q4 2025, Snapchat noted 474 million daily active users and 946 million monthly active users globally. The company also highlighted a 47 percent year-over-year increase in U.S. users posting to its short-form video feed, Spotlight, signaling heightened creator activity. High-profile figures like Kylie Jenner, who returned to the platform in late 2024, underscore this renewed creator engagement.

For creators, the subscription model offers an alternative to volatile ad-based revenue, fostering closer community ties through paid, exclusive experiences. For Snapchat, it represents a strategic effort to solidify its position in the competitive creator economy by providing tools that support sustainable content careers. The alpha test will gauge user adoption and feedback before a broader rollout, marking a significant step in Snap’s broader monetization strategy for its global creator base.
