Blessing Onuh: Tinubu Campaign’s New National Woman Leader

The Take Action Campaign, a political organization supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, has appointed Blessing Onuh, a serving member of the House of Representatives, as its National Woman Leader. The announcement was made by the organization’s Director General, Tony Nwulu, at its Abuja office on Tuesday.

Onuh, who represents the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency of Benue State, is the daughter of David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In her acceptance remarks, she pledged to mobilise support for Tinubu’s victory in the forthcoming election, aligning her role with the achievements of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The Take Action Campaign is specifically tasked with showcasing the policy successes of the Tinubu presidency.

This development occurs amid reported internal tensions within the ADC, where David Mark’s leadership is facing challenges. His position as party chairman has been subject to recent dispute, marking a period of uncertainty for the opposition party. Onuh’s appointment to a prominent role in the president’s campaign organisation highlights a cross-party political alignment, given her father’s concurrent leadership of a different national party.

Analysts note that the appointment serves the dual purpose of strengthening the Tinubu campaign’s grassroots structure, particularly among women voters, and potentially leveraging Onuh’s political lineage and influence inBenue State. Her legislative experience and regional ties are seen as assets for a national campaign seeking broad-based support.

The move underscores the fluidity of political alliances in Nigeria’s electoral landscape, where key figures often hold roles across party lines during presidential elections. It also reflects a strategic emphasis on mobilising specific demographic segments, such as women, through dedicated leadership within campaign structures.

The Take Action Campaign’s work will intensify as the nation approaches the 2027 general election, with Onuh’s role expected to focus on women’s outreach and constituency engagement. Her active participation in the ruling party’s campaign apparatus, while her father leads an opposition party, may draw further political commentary as the election cycle progresses.
