Ehie Denies ADC 2027 Rumors, Reaffirms APC Support

Rivers State Ex-Chief of Staff Denies ADC 2027 Governorship Rumours

Edison Ehie, a former Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, has publicly rejected a viral poster alleging his involvement in a 2027 governorship arrangement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He described the claim as politically motivated misinformation aimed at destabilising the state.

In a statement released on Saturday, Ehie specifically dismissed the poster’s suggestion that he would contest as deputy governor to Dakuku Peterside under the ADC banner. He called the narrative “mischievous” and “a calculated act of political propaganda” intended to mislead the public and undermine the current administration’s efforts to promote unity and stability under Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

“Let it be stated clearly, firmly, and without ambiguity: this narrative is not only false, it is a calculated act of political propaganda designed to mislead the public, sow discord, and undermine the unity and stability currently being strengthened,” Ehie said.

He reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and to Governor Fubara’s administration, emphasising his support for the government’s peace and development agenda. Ehie stated he had “neither endorsed nor consented to any such political arrangement,” labelling any contrary claims as “political fraud.”

The former chief of staff warned that the unauthorised use of his name was part of a deliberate campaign of misinformation. He urged the public to disregard the material and instead focus on the state’s progress. “I stand where Governor Fubara has always stood: with the APC and with the people of Rivers State,” he declared.

Ehie argued that attempts to link him to alternative political platforms reflect the desperation of individuals seeking relevance through fabricated stories. He asserted that Rivers State does not require “rescue from imaginary enemies,” maintaining that Governor Fubara’s administration is already delivering focused leadership.

The denial highlights the persistent rumour mills often preceding election cycles in Nigerian politics. Ehie’s strong reaffirmation of loyalty to the APC and Governor Fubara seeks to close down speculation about any political realignment among the governor’s key allies, reinforcing the message of internal cohesion as the state looks beyond the current administration.
