Madam Saje Reconciles Nollywood Trio Toyin Funke Iyabo

Veteran Nollywood actress Fausat Balogun, widely recognized by her professional name Madam Saje, has confirmed the reconciliation of actors and producers Toyin Abraham, Funke Akindele, and Iyabo Ojo. The announcement follows a brief period of online scrutiny after footage from a recent film premiere appeared to show Akindele passing by Abraham without interaction during a public appearance.

The premiere video quickly circulated across digital platforms, prompting renewed attention to past professional and personal disagreements among the filmmakers. Ojo, who faced public questioning regarding her positioning at the event, directed commentary toward a separate incident in December. During that timeframe, Abraham addressed concerns about reported professional exclusion, which Ojo noted had disrupted a previously established understanding between the two producers. According to Ojo, the December remarks altered the terms of an earlier private arrangement and contributed to the recent tension.

Rather than permitting the disagreement to amplify online, Balogun initiated direct mediation shortly after the premiere footage surfaced. In a video shared on Instagram, she confirmed that discussions with all three parties have concluded. Balogun stated that the actresses have agreed to de-escalate the situation and to prioritize private communication over public statements. She emphasized that further discussion of the dispute on social platforms is no longer necessary or appropriate.

The intervention reflects a broader industry practice of utilizing senior figures to manage interpersonal conflicts before they disrupt professional operations. Public exchanges on social media have increasingly become a focal point for Nigerian cinema audiences, often extending the lifecycle of industry disagreements beyond original intent. With the mediation complete, attention is shifting toward upcoming production schedules and promotional activities. Sustained collaboration among leading filmmakers remains a priority for Nigeria’s entertainment sector, which continues to expand its domestic market share and strengthen international distribution partnerships.
