Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has urged citizens to avoid sharing information about military movements, warning that such intelligence is being exploited by militants to ambush security forces. The governor made the appeal during a visit to three soldiers wounded in a recent bandit attack, describing the act of providing such information as sabotage.
He commended the ongoing efforts of security agencies in safeguarding the nation, emphasizing the risks faced by uniformed personnel in the line of duty. Governor AbdulRazaq was received at the 22 Armoured Brigade Hospital in Sobi by the brigade commander, Brigadier General Nicholas Nemetne Rume, and the Chief Medical Director, Prof Abdullah Dasilva Yussuf.
The governor expressed condolences to the families of three soldiers killed in the ambush and announced financial support of ₦20 million to each bereaved family and ₦5 million to each of the injured soldiers. He described the attack as a stark reminder of the dangers security personnel endure daily to protect citizens.
“I urge all hands to be on deck in this battle against banditry and terrorism,” he said, calling for continued public support for security forces. He also prayed for the souls of the deceased and wished the injured a swift recovery.
The incident underscores the persistent security challenges in parts of Nigeria, where armed groups continue to target military and civilian populations. Authorities have repeatedly stressed the importance of public cooperation in intelligence gathering to counter such threats effectively.
