NDJ Bans Burna Boy Music After DJ Tunez Assault Incident

The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has officially removed all Burna Boy songs from its members’ playlists following an alleged physical assault on DJ Tunez.

The incident occurred on Monday evening at Obi’s House, a weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos, where DJ Tunez was reportedly attacked by Burna Boy and his team. According to viral video footage circulating online, the altercation stemmed from DJ Tunez playing Wizkid’s songs while allegedly failing to include Burna Boy’s music in his set. The footage shows DJ Tunez being physically assaulted on the floor, sparking widespread debate on social media.

In response, the NDJ issued an official statement on Wednesday announcing the temporary removal of Burna Boy’s music from all affiliated DJs’ playlists. The association emphasized that the decision is pending the outcome of a formal investigation into the incident.

“We urge all DJs in Nigeria to remain vigilant and respectful toward any artist, male or female, at their events,” the statement read. The NDJ also condemned acts of violence and hate within the music industry, calling for professionalism and mutual respect among stakeholders.

The incident has drawn attention to tensions between artists and DJs in Nigeria’s competitive music scene, with many calling for greater accountability and conflict resolution mechanisms. As the investigation unfolds, the NDJ’s actions signal a strong stance against misconduct, underscoring the importance of maintaining industry standards and fostering a safe environment for all participants.
