FCT Police Officers Assist Mentally Unstable Woman in Safe Delivery in Kwali
In a commendable act of compassion, officers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command assisted a mentally unstable woman in delivering a baby in Kwali Area Council. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of April 3, 2026, has drawn widespread praise, including from popular Nigerian social media critic VeryDarkMan.
According to VeryDarkMan’s Instagram post, the officers were conducting routine surveillance as part of heightened security measures ahead of the Easter celebrations. At approximately 12:20 a.m., while on patrol around Kwaita village in Kwali Area Council, they heard loud cries coming from the roadside. Upon investigation, they discovered a mentally unstable woman who had just gone into labour.
The FCT Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that officers received information about the woman at about 12:30 a.m., prompting swift action. The Officer-in-Charge of the Gender Unit at Kwali Division quickly mobilised her team to the location. The officers provided assistance, ensuring the woman safely delivered her baby.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, detailed the officers’ prompt response and the successful outcome of the intervention.
Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan applauded the officers for their humanity and pledged to sponsor the child’s education from primary school through university. His gesture highlights the positive impact of the officers’ actions and underscores the importance of community support in such situations.
