Bayelsa State Government Declares Work-Free Day for President Tinubu’s Visit
The Bayelsa State Government has declared Friday, April 10, 2026, a work-free day and ordered the closure of markets across the state in preparation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled one-day official visit.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai. She explained that the directive was issued to enable workers and residents to participate in activities planned for the presidential visit.
According to the commissioner, President Tinubu is expected to inaugurate four major projects executed by the state government during his visit. “As we all know, the state is ready, and we are prepared as a people to receive the father of the nation, our father and leader, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” Koku-Obiyai stated.
She further urged residents, including traders, to comply with the directive and turn out to give the President a warm welcome. The government’s decision to grant a work-free day and close markets underscores the significance of the visit and the administration’s desire to ensure broad public participation in the events lined up for the occasion.
The visit is expected to highlight the state’s development efforts and strengthen federal-state relations. Residents are advised to adhere to the closure directive and prepare for the day’s activities as the state welcomes the President.
