APC Gubernatorial Aspirants Meet Tinubu for 2027 Endorsement

Two prominent aspirants for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli and Senator Teslim Folarin, have separately met with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos to seek his endorsement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, is also the Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland. He previously served as Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area, Secretary to the Oyo State Government, and Chairman of O’dua Investment Company Limited.

Folarin, the Agba-Akin Olubadan of Ibadanland, is a former Senate Leader who held the position between 2007 and 2011.

Sources indicate both politicians sought President Tinubu’s approval and support for their bids. Alli met the President about two days ago, while Folarin held discussions on Thursday.

Alli confirmed the meeting in a Facebook post, describing it as an “honor” during the Easter season. He praised Tinubu’s leadership, reforms, and commitment to Nigeria’s progress, adding that the President emphasized leadership as a “sacred trust” focused on uplifting lives.

Folarin also announced his meeting on social media, referring to it as a “father-to-son discussion” with the President.

The meetings underscore the growing political activity in Oyo State as aspirants position themselves for the 2027 elections. Both senators are leveraging their ties to the President, who remains a dominant figure in the APC and Nigerian politics.
