ADC Aims to Unseat APC in Borno 2027 Governorship Race

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally declared its ambition to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State during the 2027 general elections. The announcement was made on Sunday in Maiduguri during the inauguration of the party’s state executive members, where chairman Kolo Bukar outlined the party’s strategy to contest the governorship seat.

Bukar attributed the ADC’s decision to run to what he described as ongoing insecurity and governance failures in the state. He emphasized that the party is building momentum across all 27 local government areas, asserting that it understands the needs of Borno’s residents and is prepared to offer an alternative political direction.

“We are going to change the political tide in 2027. Our party knows the people and we know how to unseat the ruling party in Borno State,” Bukar said during the event.

The chairman also linked the recent resurgence of attacks in parts of the North-East to what he termed governance shortcomings, promising that the ADC would implement policies aimed at tackling insecurity, poverty, and unemployment if elected. He stressed that the party is developing practical solutions to address the state’s pressing challenges.

Party leader Kashim Imam Ibrahim echoed this message, stating that the ADC’s priority is to improve living conditions and provide responsive leadership to Borno’s citizens.

Despite acknowledging internal challenges, the ADC expressed confidence that it will emerge stronger as the 2027 elections approach. The party’s declaration marks a significant move in Borno’s political landscape, setting the stage for heightened competition in the next electoral cycle.
