Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has urged men to end relationships with partners who do not respect them, describing mutual respect as a non-negotiable element of marriage.
The actor shared the advice on Wednesday in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he told men to stop tolerating disrespect in the name of marriage or relationships. He stressed that a man’s respect is non-negotiable and advised those in such situations to end the relationship and find a partner who values and respects them.
His comments have sparked renewed public interest in his personal life, particularly his marriage to May Edochie, which ended following his announcement in April 2022 that he had taken actress Judy Austin as a second wife while still legally married to May.
In 2023, May filed for divorce, citing adultery, and sought N100 million in damages from Judy Austin. The case has drawn significant media attention, with both Yul and May maintaining separate public profiles since the separation.
Yul’s latest remarks have prompted discussions online about the role of respect in relationships and the impact of public figures’ personal lives on their professional image.
