Celebrity Nigerian cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika, widely known as Blord, has been granted bail after spending several weeks in Kuje Prison. His detention stemmed from allegations of impersonating social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, who is popularly known as VeryDarkMan. The announcement of Blord’s release was made by activist and former presidential candidate Omolere Sowore in a brief statement on his official Facebook account on Friday.
According to Sowore, Blord was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja. However, the court imposed a condition requiring him to deposit his international passport as part of the bail agreement. Sowore stated, “Bail has been granted to Linus Williams, popularly known as @mrblordofficial BLORD, on self-recognizance. The court, however, ordered that he deposit his international passport as part of the bail conditions.”
Blord’s remand in prison was ordered on April 1, 2026, after his arrest on charges related to alleged impersonation. The case has garnered significant attention due to Blord’s prominence in Nigeria’s cryptocurrency sector and the high-profile nature of the accusations against him. VeryDarkMan, the individual he allegedly impersonated, is a well-known social media commentator with a substantial following.
Blord, whose real name is Linus Williams Ifejirika, has established himself as a leading figure in Nigeria’s digital currency space, boasting a considerable online presence and various business ventures linked to blockchain technology. The court’s decision to grant bail on recognizance, while requiring the deposit of his passport, reflects a balanced approach, weighing the seriousness of the allegations against the rights of the defendant. The next steps in the legal process remain to be seen as the case continues to unfold.
