Rivers Police Deploy Officers to Secure JAMB UTME Exam Centres

The Rivers State Police Command has deployed security personnel to safeguard Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the state ahead of the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The measure is part of a broader directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, aimed at ensuring the safety and integrity of the examination process.

In a statement issued on Friday in Port Harcourt, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, said Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju ordered the deployment of officers, operational assets, and intelligence resources to all approved examination centres. The initiative is intended to prevent security breaches, examination malpractice, and disorder during the UTME period.

Personnel have been instructed to maintain professionalism, remain courteous, and act decisively against any threats to the examination’s integrity. They have also been mandated to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to secure not only the examination venues but also adjoining areas and access routes. Enhanced patrols, intelligence gathering, and traffic control measures have been activated around the centres to ensure smooth and secure operations.

Agabe quoted the commissioner as urging candidates, parents, and guardians to cooperate with security personnel and adhere strictly to examination guidelines. “Any individual or group attempting to undermine the integrity of the examination will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” Adepoju warned.

The police chief reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Rivers State, advising residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency. The deployment underscores the authorities’ determination to ensure a safe and credible examination environment for all candidates.
