Abuja – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced on Tuesday a reduction in its presidential nomination fee and released an updated timetable for its 2026 primary elections. The party lowered the cost of a presidential nomination form from N100 million to N90 million after a series of consultations with party leaders, aspirants and other stakeholders nationwide, according to National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi.
Under the revised fee structure, the charges for other offices are: N30 million for governorship tickets, N10 million for Senate, N5 million for the House of Representatives, and N2 million for State Assembly seats. The ADC also maintained its concession policy, granting a 50 per cent discount to young candidates aged 18‑35 and a 25 per cent discount to women and persons with disabilities.
The new schedule sets the sale of nomination forms for 1‑4 May, with the submission of completed forms to take place between 6‑13 May. Screening of aspirants is slated for 14‑15 May, and results will be announced on 17 May. An appeal period follows on 18‑19 May, after which the final list of cleared candidates will be published on 20 May.
Primary elections will proceed as follows: State Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate primaries on 21 May; governorship primaries on 22 May; and the presidential primary on 23 May. Subsequent meetings of the National Executive Committee are planned for 25 May, with the Special National Convention scheduled for 26 May 2026.
Abdullahi said the adjustments were aimed at strengthening internal democracy, enhancing inclusiveness and providing broader access for prospective candidates. He urged all aspirants and stakeholders to adhere strictly to the revised timetable and guidelines as the ADC prepares for the 2027 general elections.
