NPFL: Kwara United hail Lagos fans for support during temporary stay in Onikan

Kwara United FC has publicly thanked football fans and stakeholders in Lagos for the support they received while the club was temporarily based in the city.

Club chairman Kumbi Titiloye said the backing from Lagos State’s football community was “massive and unprecedented,” noting that it helped drive the team’s recent surge in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Titiloye added that the collective effort of Lagos stakeholders was instrumental in the club’s strong performance at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, where Kwara United recorded four wins and a draw, according to Media Talk Africa.

“Their unwavering commitment played a pivotal role in securing positive results while we were playing at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena,” Titiloye told the club’s media team. “We thank Lagos for their support.”

The string of favourable results has lifted Kwara United to 11th place in the NPFL standings, with one league match remaining. The team will travel to Yenagoa on May 24 to face Bayelsa United, who are already confirmed as relegated.

Kwara United’s temporary relocation to Lagos appears to have yielded both competitive and morale benefits, underscoring the impact of regional support on club performance in Nigeria’s top flight. The upcoming encounter with Bayelsa United will determine whether the side can improve its league position before the season concludes.
