Jamila Abd‑Mani has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency in Katsina State after winning the party’s primary election held in Mani Local Government Area. The result, announced by Shaif’u Audu‑Duwan, chairman of the constituency’s electoral committee, showed Abd‑Mani receiving 24,989 votes, far ahead of her sole rival, Ahmed Saleh, who garnered 1,256 votes from the 22 wards that voted.

The APC in Katsina typically resolves candidacies by consensus, but the party resorted to a primary in Bindawa/Mani because two aspirants expressed interest, breaking the consensus model. Audu‑Duwan said the decisive victory underscores party unity and positions the APC for success in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking after the announcement, Abd‑Mani thanked voters for their support and praised Governor Dikko Radda and the state APC leadership for allowing her participation. She urged constituents, particularly women, to back her in the 2027 general election, promising to use her experience to represent the area effectively in the House of Representatives, “by the grace of Almighty Allah.”

The primary also confirmed other APC candidates in Katsina: Usman Banye was reaffirmed as the consensus candidate for the Charanchi/Rimi/Batagarawa constituency, and incumbent Representative Salisu Majigiri secured the party’s ticket again for Mashi/Dutsi.

Abd‑Mani’s win marks a notable moment for female political representation in the state, positioning her as the sole woman among the APC aspirants in Katsina. Her campaign will now focus on consolidating grassroots support ahead of the national election cycle, while the party seeks to maintain cohesion across its various federal constituencies.
