Adebutu remains Ogun PDP gov candidate – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has dismissed rumours that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ladi Adebutu, is not on the Commission’s list of candidates for the March 18 elections.

INEC said this contrary to speculations that it had not recognised Adebutu as the candidate of the PDP in the state.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ogun, Niyi Ijalaye, described such speculations as untrue.

“It is a rumour that is not founded, that is all,” Ijalaye said while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta on Saturday.

He maintains that Adebutu is the Ogun PDP governorship candidate and called on residents of the state to ignore contrary reports.

According to the REC, Adebutu would be participating in the election as the authentic governorship candidate of the PDP.
