FEDERAL GOVERNMENT MUST NOT TOY WITH AGREEMENT REACHED WITH ASUU; NANS FCT ADVISE CHRIS NGIGE TO STAY CLEAR OF NEGOTIATION.

Fraternal Greetings to students and stakeholders in the heart and soul of the Nigerian education system.

The leadership of NANS FCT chapter under my watch has received with rude shock the memo released from the office of the Minister of Labour and Employment to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to pay ASUU half month salaries.

It will be recalled that the truce brokered by the leadership of House of Representative and particularly the Speaker of the House gave oxygen to the suspension of the strike. It is however disgusting and odoriferous that the minister of Labour backtrack the success gained in this negotiation by releasing a pungent and disdainful letter to half salary when the agreement was to pay the backlog salaries in two tranches both in October and November.

The leadership of the students consider this as insult and total aberration to the cause of social justice and ethical standard. The insincerity and preposterous abnegation of the chief conciliator is why the strike has lingered up till the leadership of House or Rep wade in.

At this juncture, the leadership of NANS under my watch is declaring unequivocally that should this half salary is not reversed and office of the Accountant General of the Federation who was part and parcel of the negotiation decided not to stay out to the true spirit of the letter, terms and agreement signed by both warring parties, we shall not hesitate to shutdown the two ministries permanently pending when the request of the lecturers are granted as contained in the memorandum of understanding signed in the last meeting headed by the Speaker of the House of Representative Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

I hereby alert the students community in FCT to be super ready and prepare ahead of any eventuality as this period, we shall not allow any rugged minister to hold our destiny, education and future to ransom. Either such egocentric minister is chased out of office or resigned willingly as we have the case of the minister if education confessing around how he failed woefully and beyond comprehension.

May the spirit of mother aluta guide us well! We say no to any form of strike or truncation of our academic calendar in whatsoever guise.

A luta continua…Victoria Ascerta.

Chairman, NANS FCT.
