A Senior Secondary School (SS3) female student of Funtaj International School, Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja, Maimuna Arah, has donated over 50 school bags to less-privileged pupils of Junior Secondary School, Gudu in the same quarters.
Presenting the school bags to the pupils, yesterday, the Niger State indigene described the donation as her little way of assisting indigent pupils whose parents could not afford some of their educational needs.
The 15-year-old girl explained that the donation would encourage children, who dropped out of school for lack of funds, to return to class.
Promising to continue with the humanitarian gesture to impact positively the less-privileged in society, Arah thanked her parents and the school management for supporting her dream and assured her that she would not disappoint them.
Vice Principal of Funtaj International School, Dr. Tina Ohia, stated that Arah announced her pet project, ‘Bag To School Initiative’, at the assembly hall to the applause of other students for her foresight.
“Those who have more than one bag also donated to her project, while most of the donations were shared to orphanage homes within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),” she said.
On his part, the Principal of JSS Gudu, Gordon Promise, called on well-to-do individuals in the society to emulate Arah’s gesture, especially indigent students.
Parents of the donor, Mohammed Arah and Aisha Arah, promised to support their daughter’s initiative to enable her to achieve her dream of a better society.
