We’d love to have him – Chelsea winger urges Arsenal’s Balogun to choose USA over Nigeria

Chelsea winger, Christian Pulisic, has revealed he would love Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun to play for the United States of America national team.

Balogun is eligible to play for USA, Nigeria and England.

The striker qualifies to represent the USA because he was born in New York, but he is provisionally cap-tied to England, where he grew up and also eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents.

There has been strong speculation over the international future of Balogun in recent weeks.

Balogun withdrew from the England U21 squad on Tuesday ahead of their friendlies, citing an undisclosed injury, which added fuel to the rumours that he is considering switching his allegiance from England to the USA or Nigeria.

“I have not really spoken to him [Balogun] personally,” Pulisic was quoted by Goal as saying.

“I know some of the guys that know him from previous teams or whatever have reached out to him and spoken to him. From our side, we’d love to have him.”
