Police ban protests in Nasarawa

The Police Command in Nasarawa has banned all forms of protest in the state with immediate effect.

A statement by the spokesman for the command, Ramhan Nansel, on Sunday in Lafia, said the ban was based on security report.

“The general public should be aware that all forms of protest have been banned throughout the state,” he said.

It added that protests under any guise were now prohibited in order to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

He explained that based on intelligent and security reports, the police can not longer allow any form of protest in order to sustain the existing peace in the state.

“Consequently, parents and guardians are advised to ensure their children and wards do not violate this order as anyone caught shall be arrested and prosecuted accordingly,” he added.
