Senate Presidency: Kalu visits Buhari, reveals intention

Ahead of the 10th National Assembly inauguration, Senator Orji Uzor, representing Abia North Senatorial District on Tuesday said he has formally informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to contest for Senate Presidency.

Kalu, who personally posted his visit to the Villa on his verified Twitter handle, said he has shown President Buhari his Certificate of Return having won the Senatorial election to return to the 10th Senate on March 18, 2023.

The announcement of his intention to contest for Senate Presidency among many others would be at the instance of the governing party zoning the Office to the South East, which a decision was still yet to be taken by the APC leadership.

Kalu, who is the current Chief Whip of the Senate wrote: “I was received this afternoon by President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) in the State House. It was an honour to present my certificate of return to Mr President and to thank him for the attention he gave Abia North Senatorial District in the last three years. I also intimated Mr President of my intention to run for the office of the Senate President in the 10th National Assembly.”

Checks by Media Talk Africa reveal that the former governor of Abia State is the only ranking Senator on the governing APC from the South East who is returning to the red chamber.
