Peter Obi reacts as LP changes price of governorship nomination forms

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the just concluded presidential election, Peter Obi has hailed the party for reducing the price of its governorship nomination form.

The LP said the nomination forms for the off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states is now N15 million instead of N25 million.

Obi said he had advised that the price which was similar to what is obtainable in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, be reduced.

He also thanked the leadership.of the party for heeding his plea to refund N25 million to the family of late Imo governorship aspirant, who died after purchasing the form.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday after meeting with members of the National Assembly-Elect of the party, the national chairman of the LP Julius Abure, said that the party will refund the N25 million nomination fee paid by late Imo State governorship aspirant, Humphrey Anumudu.

“I thank the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure, and the NWC for heeding to my appeal, and reviewing the nomination fee for the governorship form downwards to N15m.

“I applaud them for also agreeing to refund the cost of the form to the family of a deceased aspirant Chief Humphrey Anumudu from Imo State; and agreeing to refund N10m to each of those that had paid,” Obi tweeted.
