Domestic airfare decreased slightly by 0.18% in February – NBS

According to the National Bureau of Statistics’ recent report, domestic air transport fares decreased slightly by 0.18 per cent in February.

In its latest report titled ‘Transport Fare Watch (February 2023)’, domestic fares for air travel for a single route were reduced to N74,571.62 in February from N74,702.70 in January 2023.

But there was a 66 per cent increase compared to February last year.

In February 2022, airfare stood at N44,825.04; the recent figure showed it shot up by 66 per cent.

The report also indicated that the average fare paid by commuters for bus journeys within cities slightly decreased by 0.47 per cent in February 2023 to N647.66 from N650.70 in January 2023.

Still, the average fare rose by 26.07 per cent yearly from N513.72 in February 2022.
