My wives, children won’t interfere in my government, says Kano gov-elect

The Kano State governor-elect, Abba Yusuf, has said that he would restrict his wives and children from interfering in governance of state.

Mr Yusuf made the promise after receiving his certificate of return on Wednesday.

Apparently referring to the overreaching influence of the wife and children of the outgoing governor, Mr Yusuf assured that neither him nor his deputy would allow such to happen in the incoming administration.

“My wives will not be part of the governance. My children will not be part of the governance. And I can tell you for sure that this is the same for my deputy governor,” he said.

While appealing to his opponent, Nasir Gawuna, to accept the outcome of the polls, the governor-elect described his election n as a “no victor, no vanquished”.

He, therefore, urged Mr Gawuna to join his administration in restoring the good fortunes of the state.

“We heard Gawuna telling the media before the results was announced that if he does not emerge winner, he will accept the decision as the will of God.

“So, we are calling on him to come out now and address the people to confirm this as the will of God,” Mr Yusuf added.
