Benue governor-elect, Fr Alia reveals first thing he’ll do in office

Benue State Governor-elect, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has revealed that the first thing on his table after the May 29 inauguration would be about the state’s civil service.

Alia, who spoke on Wednesday after receiving his Certificate of Return in Makurdi, the state capital, also thanked the Benue people for giving him the opportunity to serve them.

According to Alia, civil service remains the engine of every society, saying he would ensure that the civil service is functional before other things could come up.

He said, “We are not taking the opportunity being given to us by the Benue people for granted.

“First of all, we will immediately get a drawing table to make our civil service work.

“Civil service is the engine of the society and it has to be functional before we move to every other thing. So that is going to be the number one thing on the desk”.
