Interim govt alien to Nigeria – Afenifere

The Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, on Monday said an interim government is alien to Nigeria.

To this end, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, said the Department of State Services, DSS, should arrest those agitating for an interim government in Nigeria.

Ajayi said anything short of following due process in swearing in of winners of the just concluded elections would constitute grave dangers for Nigeria.

In a statement, Ajayi described an interim government as an ill-wind that would “blow no-one any good.”

According to Ajayi: “As for those who are pushing for an Interim Government, this should not be allowed to happen first because it is alien to our law books and also because we have had an experience of it in the past. Not only was the experience unpleasant, it was retrogressive.

“Since we know that it is fraught with danger, it is very necessary we make it known that it would be unacceptable.

“The DSS and the Police should apprehend those they suspected as being behind the nefarious plot.”
